If the lines and spaces didn't help precipitate an "I can't read music" attitude, the rhythms surely might have!Once you are told that a quarter gets one and an eighth gets a half and a half gets two, the disconnect can be severe and long-lasting. For now, you can trust that it really does make sense and just remember this one concept:
