SymbolsWhether a chord is Major or minor depends on whether the third is major or minor. The symbol for a Major Chord is simply the name of the root note. For example, B♭ D F (a B♭ Major Triad) is notated as B♭. Alternately, B♭ D♭ F (a B♭ minor triad) is notated as B♭m.* Whenever you see that lower case 'm' it refers to the third of the chord and that's all - always. *You may find minor chords notated as B♭min or B♭_ |
