Diminished

The diminished symbol   𝇈   indicates that both the third and the fifth of the chord are lowered a half-step, superseding and implying the "m".

The diminished symbol is used only when both the third and fifth are lowered.

The symbol for a chord with a Major Third and a lowered fifth would not contain   𝇈   but would be written A(♭5)
