Chord: More than one note played or sung together.Yes, two notes played together is a chord, but just barely - usually a chord contains at least three notes. We are going to approach building chords relative to the whole and half steps of a Major scale. Whatever your skill level on an instrument - even if it is none - you must have a solid relationship with all twelve major scales. If you don't yet play an instrument, gain use of a piano and take the time to work through each Major scale - whole step, whole step, half step … At the very least, using either a picture of a piano or of the twelve tones (below), write out a major scale starting on each note.
