The chord symbol Cm7 tells us - C is the root of the chord
- which makes G the fifth.
- The m tells us that the third is a minor third
- and the 7 without the maj tells us it is a lowered (minor) seventh.
So a minor7 chord is spelled 1 ♭3 5 ♭7 and a Cm7 specifically is spelled C E♭ G B♭Cm7
