Four Note ChordsSo far while building triads we have used only three of the seven different notes in the Major Scale, to make Major and minor chords. Many, many songs - especially folk songs and kids songs - can be rendered satisfactorily using only major, or major and minor triads. Adding a fourth note to a triad gives it personality, style and very often and most importantly, specific function(s). While still building chords using the Major Scale as building blocks, let's start by adding the sixth degree in the scale - so … 1 3 5 6 ![]() This is called a Six Chord; this one specifically is F6.
